Do Ball Pythons Eat Cats? [SEE HERE]

Theoretically speaking, a very large adult female ball python might be able to kill your cat. But, the chances of a BP ever making completing the attempt are slim to none.

Ball pythons cannot swallow anything larger than a big rat. Normally, they don’t attempt to kill things they can’t eat. Ball pythons don’t use constriction in self-defense – they curl up in a ball, strike defensively, or run away.

Cats, on the other hand, are merciless predators that can kill animals as big or bigger than they are using claws and speeds. A cat may very well shred your ball python into pieces with ease. Thereby, killing it.

I wouldn’t allow any small animal contact with a constrictor snake, so keep kittens and ball pythons separated, for both their sakes.

Is there Any Possibility That A Ball Python Could Kill A Cat?

The chances of a ball python ever killing an adult cat is ZERO. BP isn’t just that quick or strong. In most situations where a domestic cat and ball python are left alone and out of cages, they ignore one another. However, if a confrontation occurs, the cat kills the ball python.

A starved adult ball python might attempt to kill and eat a Kitten. If the ball python managed to pull up on the kitten, ambushing it and getting its coil wrapped around the kitten, it could constrict the kitten.

Even then, the kitten would have the upper hand due to its speed. Ball pythons lack large or powerful mouths, so a bite is likely to slide over the kitten’s fur.

Once the kitten is free, the kitten could run away easily. The kitten might even stay to fight and would still have an advantage because of speed.

Can an Adult Ball Python Eat A Cat?

No, your ball python will not eat your cat… If anything, the cat would eat the snake.

A BP having a strike at your cat would be out of fear rather than of prey instinct. Being your cat’s curiosity and sticking its face around the snake.

Just ensure that your enclosure is secured properly all the time. They do tend to be escape artists and it is usually due to human error that this happens. Never rush with your snake, make sure everything is done in the same manner every time.

I guess I am saying be OCD with how you maintain your pets and this should never come into question.
